I was told by teachers: "You will not get anywhere in life by drawing and doodling" ...I later worked on award-winning animation shows. Won Festival Awards, and get paid to draw and doodle.

Hello Newgrounds and Artists

LOOKING FOR ARTISTS

I have an opportunity for some artists. We are currently looking for some people to create some stunning character designs sheets, background art, designs, and concept art for a potential short film.

I can't say much, but the show style is very similar to The Regular Show and Over The Garden Wall. We are ideally looking for people who could create stunning artworks that be helpful in visualizing the directors idea and offer guidence to artists and clients. If you can match the style then we'd love to hear from you.

If you are successful, We will get back to you and ask that you do sign a non-disclosed agreement. Then you'll be invited to our Discord group.

We plan on hiring animators in the future. At which I make another post and announcment about it.

You can post your work below here, links, with your rates (or on my twitter page as well))

Thank you!

So I'm sure most of you know. Tumblr has gone through a recent change where several innocent accounts have been unfairly banned (I won't recycle what millions have already said). Now recently Twitter has also seen so many people just give up on the platform due to some recent changes.

  6930962_154303473021_DstaRaiVAAA1I5j.jpg

Twitter and Tumblr has now become this weird thing where freedom of expression and speech is slowly being censored. Anything that is considered "offensive" can lead to posts being deleted and accounts getting suspended or terminated.

Which is a scary thing. While a lot of people will say this is to "protect" others. I'm always thinking that the more you allow censoring and "protection"...The more grounds and freedom you're losing. I understand there is a line, but now it seems that we can see the point where it can get very...very dangerous.

"What? You want to let these people have a platform to say horrible stuff?" Yes. Because then you and I would know who is being a wanker.

In the UK alone. There is laws, that if you accidently swear or just fucking post rap lyrics online...can get you arrested. (no, Im not joking). The internet is one of few places where people are free to express their opinions. But now big websites are now slowly looking less appealing every week...Facebook, YouTube, and etc.

Except for Newgrounds.

I was watching one random artist with a small twitch following mentioned that his tumblr friends were switching to Newgrounds. Another animator on Twitter said that Newgrounds is where she was going back to. Whenever I turned to my mates/artists about the recent hiccups. Newgrounds would get brought up.

I believe this is true since @Tomfulp made a post welcoming new artists and creators on here. I've seen a massive spike in the portal with new content. Hell...Im glad to see some more weird stuff on here. Art, Animations, Music, and OPINIONS. I go on the portal and get to see some new and great work.

WEIRD IS GOOD. And it aint fucking offensive. Offensive is SUBJECTIVE. What offends you, might not offend the million others. What offends me, might not offend you or the other millions.

Im sure people would welcome these new artists and people with open arms even if what they do or say aren't in their good books. You don't have like everything but let them, be them. Plus I've met some really talented and awesome people. You might as well! :)

Just wanted throw my thoughts and my scary opinions out there!

Peace.

UPDATE: Okay. I didn't expect this to go bonkers.

In regardless to what some are saying. Yes. Context is damn near important to what the "offensive subject" is about. But even with the recent "Count Dankular Nazi Pug" case. The court judge said that "context is NOT important". Which is botth ridiculous and idiotic. Context is the backbone to everything and will determine if the subject matter should be worth removing or starting a stir.

I'm not fully blaming Tumblr for this. Someone spreading child porn should be not only banned but also fucking arrested. However, they're going at it the wrong way. It like that lazy school tactic of instead of punishing the ONE bad child...they punish the whole classroom. But also according to other accounts that they have been unfairly banned because one/or small group deemed that account offensive.

The way I look at is this; does that person who creates or say X in any way harmful? If not, Then I don't see why that certain someone should be silenced or stopped from what they're doing. Is really two imaginary characters doing some NSFW really the worst thing on the planet? Or someone having an idea/opinion that is different than yours really that bad?

I have to get ready and deal with BREXIT for the majorty of my life. I'm spending time writing countless emails to my MEP to stop Article 13 from appearing and destroying the internet for EU. I'm supporting every possible causes to make sure that the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK doesn't crumble or become privitised. These are FUCKING real.

Some nobody on the internet saying nasty stuff or creating lewd art on the internet isn't and will never be my top priorty. And it shouldn't be yours either.

Im sure most of you know, but if you don't, I won 1st place in the Basement Theme and took home 2nd Place in the Newgrounds Summer Jam. Which is big thing for me and I will say this again. Thank you to everyone over the past few months. Well done to @KarlSia, @BrandyBuizel and the others as well for their finishes.

I have been using Newgrounds since 2003. And if I remember (on a different account). I always wanted to post and win something on here for a long time. This is a huge thing for me personally and feel like my younger self would be proud of me.

As I've said in another post. This summer jam has been without a doubt a challenge. Working a job that had me sometimes working a full-day and than having to get up at 5AM the very next day was not easy. But also having to complete commissions and freelance work was sometimes tricky and hard. I didn't get as much time to work on these compared to most. I would have to sometimes force myself to stay awake for 24 hours just to get everything done in time.

This wasn't just a test on my animations skills but also on my Time Management and Persistence.

6930962_153990490381_NGBannerResults.png

Im taking a small break. Im burnt out over these past few months. I'll be working on commissions for some time before I jump back into another project. I believe I'll have something ready for Christmas, maybe another old story that took place during the war, but I can't confirm it.

It also comes that after working hard over these last few months that my skills in video games has dropped as Im longer a LE in CSGO, TOP <1% in PUBG and I bet I will struggle hard to get back to Diamond in Overwatch. So Thanks Obama...I mean...Newgrounds. ):<

But I did get a few people asking me to work on some projects and comissions more recently. I believe thats because of Newgrounds. So we're even and I thank you <3

TWITCH STREAMING

I've been thinking of doing some streaming. Working on commissions, animations, and scenes. I've seen the creativity slot on Twitch. It got me thinking after my friend started streaming of her drawing/painting and she has been doing good so far and has a small following.

I believe that I can do some amazing work and maybe for like the last couple of hours do some gaming. Showing off why I WAS in top 1% in PUBG for a few seasons. ;p

If anyone who does streaming or knows anything could let me know the software, tips, and what is needed to get a stream started and stable. I'd love to hear about OBS and other factors that goes to make a streaming channel work.

I won't be streaming work that is deemed NSFW, private or falls under a NDA.

Some have asked, and yes, I do have a Patreon. It would a big help if you could pledge even only $1. I will only charge per creation rather than some others who charge monthly and don't post anything at all.

I'm also on Twitter if you're interested in any of my updates, doodles, work in progress and goodies!

DUCKOUT, an old folk story that took place in Poland 1940 about a German soldier who goes into a basement and does something that most wouldn't imagine.

For the Final Round of the Summer Jam, "Basement" Theme.

Im quite proud of myself sticking to it and able to pull 5 short animations within a short amount of time. The community has been super cool and I am certain that my future animations are going to be even better!

I've decided to create a Patreon. If you've enjoyed what I've posted over the last few months then please do check it out. I would really appreciate it. You will be getting not only animations but also webcomics, tutorials, files illustrations and drawings from me. Even a small contribution would be awesome!

Hope you all are doing great! It's been super busy on my end. (Summer Jam, Commissions, Work, Life, and etc).

New Web-comic!

I've been creating a weekly webcomic called, Saltcade.

A weekly web-comic based on varies unpleasant and very relatable subjects in online video games. (Toxic teammates, bull*** moments and unfair practices). It's managed to hit the front page of Reddit a few times and on /r/GlobalOffensive.

So please do check them out!: https://tapas.io/series/Saltcade1

Patreon!

I finally set up a patreon: https://www.patreon.com/BadTwin

I've been creating online content for years. When I was YouTube Partner back in 2010, I would create constant animations but after its new policy changes, buggy copyright system and false takedowns. I've been unmotivated to post work onto YouTube as I didn't feel it wasn't worth my time. I lost a good chunk of my work and fans.

I have since then been freelancing like crazy, working a part-time job, and taking commissions for varies projects to keep the engine running.

It's honestly crazy that I haven't dropped dead yet. I don't like begging but it seems that every creator seems to have a Patreon now and I feel like I need it just as much as the next. Even $1 means a lot and be much appreciated.

Final Summer Jam

I'm working hard on the final summer jam. I believe Im dead close to 2nd or 3rd Place and I want to take this next animation seriously. All of my previous animations have that twist and unxpected moment in all of them. For this next one...

...It's going to be a serious one. Based on an old folk story that happened in the 1940's. Im hoping NG and everyone will like it.

Thank you and hope all have a smashing day!

tl'dr; I have a webcomic. I got screwed by YouTube and now have patreon and I'm working hard on the next summer jam. Cheers!

Lets BRING the final round in. Im bloody ready. >:)

2nd Entry: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/714030
3rd Entry: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/715023

Yeah, this summer has been a challenging one if I do say the least. Creating animations within a short deadline while dealing with work, commissions, and life is certainly a challenge. I just had one of my artwork shared on the offical PUBG twitter and get contacted by bunch of sellers and people who were very interested in that piece; https://twitter.com/PUBG/status/1029880108343934977

Some asked if I have a twitter.

Yes. I do; https://twitter.com/DavidTheBudgen

Im also doing a webcomic called, Saltcade. It's mostly like a asdfmovie-style comic but its stuff that I've dealt with in the video game scene. (competitive, tournaments, toxic, trolling and anything troubling.) Mostly based on my CSGO days. It's doing okay at the moment. Not hit any big following so far but its getting +1k upvotes and being frontpaged on /r/globaloffensive. So that's nice.

Web comic here; https://tapas.io/episode/1159878

Thank you :)

Good Dream?
https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/713012

My first few animation on Newgrounds for the BadDreamJam Summer Jam. I was really damn proud of myself of getting this done. I have two jobs, a London trip to sort out, and several freelance work to complete. It was a challenge.

Big massive thanks to TheMikirog for sound effects, colour correction and last minute edits.

Please do give it a watch and whirl. Thanks! <3

Howdy ya'll.

I'm BadTwinZ or David. I've been using Newgrounds since the early 2000's and never quite posted on here. I'm currently a freelance series animator and a retail worker. I now and again do storyboards, illustrations and bits and bobs.

I finally decided to create an account on this website since a LOT of artists who I know used Newgrounds and one of the reasons why I'm actually working as an animator. Im still slighty nervous because...you know...the internet.

Twitter: https://twitter.com/DavidTheBudgen
Website: https://dbudgen.com

Thanks

David
