So I'm sure most of you know. Tumblr has gone through a recent change where several innocent accounts have been unfairly banned (I won't recycle what millions have already said). Now recently Twitter has also seen so many people just give up on the platform due to some recent changes.
Twitter and Tumblr has now become this weird thing where freedom of expression and speech is slowly being censored. Anything that is considered "offensive" can lead to posts being deleted and accounts getting suspended or terminated.
Which is a scary thing. While a lot of people will say this is to "protect" others. I'm always thinking that the more you allow censoring and "protection"...The more grounds and freedom you're losing. I understand there is a line, but now it seems that we can see the point where it can get very...very dangerous.
"What? You want to let these people have a platform to say horrible stuff?" Yes. Because then you and I would know who is being a wanker.
In the UK alone. There is laws, that if you accidently swear or just fucking post rap lyrics online...can get you arrested. (no, Im not joking). The internet is one of few places where people are free to express their opinions. But now big websites are now slowly looking less appealing every week...Facebook, YouTube, and etc.
Except for Newgrounds.
I was watching one random artist with a small twitch following mentioned that his tumblr friends were switching to Newgrounds. Another animator on Twitter said that Newgrounds is where she was going back to. Whenever I turned to my mates/artists about the recent hiccups. Newgrounds would get brought up.
I believe this is true since @Tomfulp made a post welcoming new artists and creators on here. I've seen a massive spike in the portal with new content. Hell...Im glad to see some more weird stuff on here. Art, Animations, Music, and OPINIONS. I go on the portal and get to see some new and great work.
WEIRD IS GOOD. And it aint fucking offensive. Offensive is SUBJECTIVE. What offends you, might not offend the million others. What offends me, might not offend you or the other millions.
Im sure people would welcome these new artists and people with open arms even if what they do or say aren't in their good books. You don't have like everything but let them, be them. Plus I've met some really talented and awesome people. You might as well! :)
Just wanted throw my thoughts and my scary opinions out there!
Peace.
UPDATE: Okay. I didn't expect this to go bonkers.
In regardless to what some are saying. Yes. Context is damn near important to what the "offensive subject" is about. But even with the recent "Count Dankular Nazi Pug" case. The court judge said that "context is NOT important". Which is botth ridiculous and idiotic. Context is the backbone to everything and will determine if the subject matter should be worth removing or starting a stir.
I'm not fully blaming Tumblr for this. Someone spreading child porn should be not only banned but also fucking arrested. However, they're going at it the wrong way. It like that lazy school tactic of instead of punishing the ONE bad child...they punish the whole classroom. But also according to other accounts that they have been unfairly banned because one/or small group deemed that account offensive.
The way I look at is this; does that person who creates or say X in any way harmful? If not, Then I don't see why that certain someone should be silenced or stopped from what they're doing. Is really two imaginary characters doing some NSFW really the worst thing on the planet? Or someone having an idea/opinion that is different than yours really that bad?
I have to get ready and deal with BREXIT for the majorty of my life. I'm spending time writing countless emails to my MEP to stop Article 13 from appearing and destroying the internet for EU. I'm supporting every possible causes to make sure that the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK doesn't crumble or become privitised. These are FUCKING real.
Some nobody on the internet saying nasty stuff or creating lewd art on the internet isn't and will never be my top priorty. And it shouldn't be yours either.

didn´t came here because I was terminated, but to get use to this site when my time comes. Always nice to check new things , new people and new art. I didn´t know about the Twitter thing. I personally never thought to use Twitter or Facebook to post my NSFW stuff. Let´s hope that this place and or other places will be more easy and relaxing.
